SKILLS, Inc. provides personalized living arrangements for individuals with developmental disabilities. Homes, located in Central Maine's urban and rural communities, are designed to encourage maximum independence utilizing supports provided by professionally trained staff. Community activities and social events are offered, as well as, opportunities to attend day services, senior services, and work programs. Transportation is provided for all programs and activities.
Waiver Homes
Waiver Homes are tailored specifically to meet the unique needs of the individuals living in them. One to two individuals live in each unlicensed home and have the option of individualized activities provided in their home during the day. The number of hours of staff support is based on individual needs.
PNMIs (Private Non-Medical Institutes)
PNMIs (Private Non-Medical Institutes) are licensed boarding homes that provide supports to both men and women. Homes range in size of six individuals to 15 individuals. Individuals either have their own bedroom or share with one other person. All share bathrooms, kitchen, dining room and living room. Twenty-four hour coverage is provided at these homes, with one exception.
ICF/MRs (Intermediated Care Facilities)
ICF/MRs (Intermediated Care Facilities) are federal and state licensed homes that provide extensive supports to both men and women. Homes range in size from 4 to 6 individuals. Individuals either have their own bedroom or share with one other person. All share bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, living room and recreation rooms. Twenty-four hour coverage is provided at these homes.
